A Cuneiform Digital Library

I found an amazing collection of cuneiform tablets in the digital format and thought to add information about this great work in my blog. You can visit http://cdli.ucla.edu/index_html?section=cdli  to have a look at this magnificient work.

cdli; digital library initiative is a joint project of University of California at Los Angeles and the Max Planck institute of the history of science. It represents the efforts of an international group of Assyriologists, museum curators and historians of science to make available through the Internet the form and content of cuneiform tablets dating from the beginning of writing, until the end of the pre-Christian era. According to their estimate there are about 500, 000 cuneiforms available all over the world kept for public and private use. From these huge number of cuneiform cdli has catalogued 225 000 in electronic form.

Their collection includes clay tablets from many museums and other institutes around the world and as a library student I could not ignore the way they catalogue clay tablets. So I include here one example on cataloguing clay tablets.
